Just before 2004 Olympics, KPS Gill (then chief selector of indian hockey Federation) kept Dhanraj Pillay out of Indian team announcing that he will be preserved for Olympics (which was just 3 months away) in a press conference. It was a move for demoralizing a superhockey player india ever produced after the Great Dhyanchand. He retired from international hockey in 2004.We do not have official statistics of his goals scored in international matches.what a shame! its about 170.
